The Edo State House of Assembly Service Commission has revoked the employment letters of 324 recently recruited workers, declaring the appointments unauthorised and unlawful.
The affected individuals had received letters of appointment in September after interviews, but the commission confirmed that the recruitment process was not approved.
In a statement signed by the Chairman, Ezehi Igbas, and Secretary, Isoken Nehi-Olotu, the commission said: “All employment letters issued to the 324 people by the Edo State House of Assembly Service Commission are null, void, and of no effect whatsoever. We tender an unreserved apology to all recipients and deeply regret the inconvenience caused.”
Igbas told journalists that the appointments were provisional and could not be converted into full employment due to current constraints. “What we gave them was provisional employment, and we were hoping it would be made full. However, it is no longer feasible as things are now,” he said.
