The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of 120 suspected internet fraudsters in Lagos, following a major operation carried out by its Lagos Zonal Directorate 1.

The operation, which took place on Monday, May 19, 2025, led to the arrest of 95 male and 25 female suspects at different locations across the state.

According to the EFCC, the arrests were made after weeks of credible intelligence gathering and discreet surveillance regarding the suspects’ alleged involvement in internet-related fraud.

In a statement issued by the anti-graft agency, it was disclosed that several items were recovered from the suspects during the raid.

These include 26 exotic cars, high-end jewelry, dozens of smartphones, laptops, and several incriminating documents linked to cybercrime.

“The operation was intelligence-driven. Our officers carried out extensive surveillance before executing the coordinated raid that led to the arrest of the suspects,” an EFCC official stated.

The Commission also revealed that all the suspects are currently undergoing further interrogation and profiling. Upon the conclusion of investigations, they are expected to be charged to court accordingly.

“This is part of our renewed efforts to rid the society of the menace of cybercrime and bring perpetrators to justice,” the agency added.
