The Kano State Government has declared a two-week Sallah break for all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state, in celebration of the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir festivities.

This was made known in an official statement issued by the Ministry of Education on Monday, June 2, 2025.

According to the directive, all schools both day and boarding are expected to proceed on break from Wednesday, June 4, 2025, and resume academic activities on Sunday, June 15, 2025.

The Ministry explained that the holiday was in accordance with the 2024/2025 academic calendar, which remains unchanged despite the festive break.

“Parents and guardians of boarding students are advised to pick up their children early on Wednesday, June 4, to allow for safe and timely travel,” the statement added.

The Commissioner for Education, Ali Makoda, also advised parents to ensure strict compliance with the resumption date to avoid academic setbacks.

“We also urge parents and guardians to ensure their children comply with the official resumption date for a smooth continuation of the academic term,” Makoda stated.

He further extended festive greetings to pupils, students, and staff across the state, noting the importance of rest and reflection during the break.

“We wish our students and pupils a peaceful and successful Sallah break,” the Commissioner said.

The Ministry assured that all schedules contained in the academic calendar would be strictly observed after the holiday period.

The announcement comes days after the Federal Government declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, as public holidays to mark the Eid-ul-Adha celebration across the country.
