Two secondary school boys were apprehended in a phone store after allegedly attempting to purchase an iPhone 17 Pro Max using a fake bank transfer alert.
The incident, which has since gone viral on X, was captured in a video recorded inside the shop.
The footage was narrated by a female eyewitness who was present at the time. In the video, the boys, dressed in their school uniforms, were seen being confronted by shop attendants after suspicion was raised over the payment made for the device.
According to the narration in the video, one of the boys presented a transfer notification that was later discovered to be fabricated. The method, commonly referred to as a fake alert scam, involves showing altered screenshots designed to appear like a successful bank transaction.
The shop attendants reportedly detained the boys after confirming that no payment had been received. There were indications that they were later handed over to security authorities, although there has been no official statement from the police as of the time of filing this report.
The video has continued to generate strong reactions online, with many social media users expressing concern over the increasing involvement of minors in fraudulent activities. Others pointed to peer pressure, social media influence, and the growing desire for luxury gadgets as possible factors driving such behaviour among young people.
