The Federal Government has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the holiday declaration on behalf of the government, congratulating the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.

In a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister emphasized the importance of embodying the values of Ramadan, including self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace.

“Eid-el-Fitr is a time of reflection and gratitude. It is a period to reinforce love, forgiveness, and solidarity, which are essential for a harmonious and prosperous society,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo stated.

He called on Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the peace, stability, and economic progress of the nation, stressing that unity across religious and ethnic lines remains crucial to national development.

The Minister further urged citizens to celebrate safely and responsibly, while also remembering the less privileged through acts of kindness and charity.

“Ramadan teaches us the value of sacrifice and care for others. Let us extend our hands to those in need and spread the spirit of love that this season represents,” he added.
