The Federal Government has announced a temporary traffic diversion along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway at Magboro, Ogun State, to facilitate the installation of a warning gantry on the busy highway.

The traffic advisory was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, through the Head of the State Taskforce on Road Construction and Rehabilitation, Cdr Ojerinde K.A.

According to the statement, the Federal Ministry of Works, in collaboration with Buildwell Construction Company, will carry out the diversion between the Magboro Underpass and Ibafo, with traffic expected to rejoin the main carriageway at the NASFAT turning.

The agency said the operation was necessary to enable the installation of a warning gantry located at Kilometre 13 of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, in front of Mountain Top University and a few metres before Ibafo.

“The diversion will be between the Magboro Underpass and Ibafo, with traffic rejoining the main carriageway at the NASFAT turning,” the statement read.

TRACE explained that cars, buses and mini trucks would be diverted through the Magboro Underpass and routed via Ibafo before rejoining the expressway, while articulated vehicles and heavy-duty trucks would be temporarily held until the installation exercise is completed.

The agency added that the operation was expected to last between 45 minutes and one hour during peak traffic periods.

“The operation is expected to last between 45 minutes and one hour during the peak hours,” the statement noted.

Motorists were urged to cooperate with traffic officials and comply with traffic regulations throughout the exercise.

“Motorists are advised to exercise patience, obey traffic regulations, and comply with directions from traffic management personnel,” the agency stated.

TRACE further disclosed that its officers and personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps would be strategically deployed along the corridor to manage traffic flow and ensure the safety of road users during the operation.
