Abuja – The Federal Government has promoted 24,202 senior officers across the country’s four paramilitary agencies, in a move aimed at boosting morale and enhancing service delivery.
The announcement was made on Monday by the Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, during a briefing in Abuja. He was represented at the event by the Secretary to the Board, Abdulmalik Jubril.
According to the minister, the promotion marks the second batch of senior officers elevated in 2025. The officers promoted are from the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The distribution is as follows: NCoS – 11,426, NIS – 4,336, FFS – 2,581, and NSCDC – 5,859.
Tunji-Ojo explained that the promotions were based on factors including national spread, performance records, ratification, and availability of vacancies. “The promotion is part of our ongoing efforts to boost the morale of personnel and ensure effective service delivery in our agencies,” he said.
He added that the exercise aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes the well-being of serving personnel, noting that in previous years, promotion had been stagnant. “This administration is committed to improving the welfare of our paramilitary officers to strengthen national security,” he said.
The minister described the promotion as one of several incentives introduced to enhance staff welfare, underscoring the government’s determination to tackle insecurity across the country.
