Four people have lost their lives while 10 others sustained injuries in two separate road accidents in Matazu and Charanchi local government areas of Katsina State.

The incidents occurred on Sunday, just four months after Governor Dikko Radda survived a road crash along the Daura-Katsina Road.

Eyewitnesses said the four deceased victims in the Matazu accident, which was witnessed by Governor Radda while returning from the first phase of his statewide tour in the Funtua zone, were all women.

The governor’s convoy came across a commercial Golf vehicle with registration number DDM 339 XA involved in a fatal collision.

The vehicle, carrying passengers from Jibia to Dandume, was severely damaged. Governor Radda immediately ordered his convoy to stop and personally oversaw the evacuation of the victims. Medical teams attached to the convoy provided emergency care while awaiting additional responders.

At the scene, Radda said, “No leader should drive past such a tragedy. We stopped because these victims are our brothers and sisters. Their lives matter, and it is our duty to respond with compassion and urgency. This painful loss is a reminder of how fragile life is. My heart is with the families of the deceased, and we will continue supporting those affected.”

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the governor added that his entourage later encountered another accident along the Kafinsoli–Koda Road.

Rescue efforts were immediately coordinated, and two vehicles from the governor’s motorcade transported the injured victims to a medical facility in Charanchi for urgent treatment.

Governor Radda also commiserated with the convoy of the deputy governor, which was involved in a separate accident along the Kaduna–Zaria Road, leaving six people injured.

He prayed for their swift recovery, saying, “May Almighty Allah forgive the departed and grant them Jannatul Firdausi. May He also heal the injured and return them safely to their families.”

He assured citizens that his administration would continue strengthening support systems to protect lives and provide timely assistance during emergencies.
