The management of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti Federal University Oye-Ekiti has suspended two students over allegations of cyberbullying involving the institution’s suspended Students’ Union Government president, James Iyanuoluwa Adio.

This was contained in a statement published on the university’s official news portal on Friday and attributed to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Tajudeen Opoola, who is the Acting Vice-Chancellor.

The two students, Alao Iyanuoluwa Odunayo and Olawale Abiodun Samuel, were accused of conspiring to cyberbully Adio by allegedly posting his private affairs online after he was said to have failed to meet certain financial demands.

The university management said it strongly frowned at the conduct, describing it as capable of tarnishing the image of the institution, while stressing that disciplinary measures had become necessary pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.

Adio, the suspended SUG president James Iyanuoluwa Adio, was earlier suspended last week alongside a Deputy Director in the Students Affairs Directorate over allegations bordering on extortion.

He was accused of being indirectly involved in the collection of fees from first-year students for practical sessions, with a substantial sum allegedly traced to his account.

Following his suspension, a video allegedly linked to him circulated on social media, drawing widespread reactions and prompting attention from the National Association of Nigerian Students.
