Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has approved the career advancement of Graduate Primary School Teachers, also known as the Tutor Cadre, from Grade Level 16 to Grade Level 17.
The decision is aimed at addressing stagnation at the peak of the cadre, motivating teachers, and improving service delivery across the primary education system.
The development was disclosed in a statement signed by the State Head of Service, Mr Kehinde Onasanya.
According to the release, the Governor also approved a consolidated salary structure for Head-Teacher General, effectively upgrading their status and recognizing their critical role in school leadership.
Mr Onasanya explained that the policy decision follows a comprehensive review of existing career progression frameworks and is designed to enhance learning outcomes in Ogun State.
The State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has been directed to implement the new policy immediately.
“This move reinforces our commitment to strengthening the education sector and supporting our workforce,” the Head of Service said.
He added that the decision aligns with the ISEYA pillar of the Abiodun administration, reaffirming Ogun State’s position as a leading hub of education in the country.
