Suspected armed bandits have kidnapped a retired Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Major General Mahrazu Tsiga, along with several residents of Tsiga village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The attack occurred on Wednesday night when heavily armed assailants stormed the village and forcibly took the former NYSC boss and other locals captive.

A resident of the area confirmed the abduction during a telephone conversation with Channels Television on Thursday. “They invaded the village with sophisticated weapons, heading straight for General Tsiga’s residence before seizing him and others,” the source said.

Although the Katsina State Government and the police have yet to issue an official statement, multiple eyewitnesses verified that the attack was swift, leaving two villagers injured.

Additionally, one of the gunmen was reportedly shot dead by his own colleagues in what appeared to be an accidental discharge.
