Gunmen have reportedly killed a former staff member of Ogun State Television, Mrs Kitan Oyesiku, popularly known as Aunty Kitan, during an attack on her residence in the Kobape area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, also claimed the life of a security guard attached to the residence.
Oyesiku, a retired broadcaster, was widely known in media circles across Ogun State, where she built a reputation during her years in the broadcast industry.
According to a report by Radio Nigeria Paramount FM 94.5, the assailants invaded the residence and carried out the attack before fleeing the scene.
The motive behind the killings could not be immediately ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
Security agencies are expected to commence investigations into the incident with a view to identifying and apprehending those responsible for the attack.
The development has thrown family members, colleagues and residents into mourning, with many describing the late broadcaster as a respected media professional who contributed significantly to the growth of broadcasting in Ogun State.
