Ibadan, Oyo State – Property valued at millions of naira was destroyed on Thursday when a fire gutted a three-bedroom residential building at No. 1, Road 10, Adepoju Area of Ibadan.
Moroof Akinwande, Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Services Reform and Chairman of the state Fire Services, confirmed the incident in a statement.
He said the fire was reported at exactly 11:23 am by a neighbour, Prince Ola.
“The firemen swiftly responded and deployed to the scene. The first flat, a three-bedroom private residential building, was engulfed by fire. Our officers quickly swung into action and prevented it from spreading to the second flat,” Akinwande stated.
He added that the Federal Fire Service, Ibadan Command, later joined efforts to fully extinguish the fire.
The chairman urged residents to be cautious, remove unused appliances from sockets, and install firefighting equipment in homes and offices.
