Nollywood actor Ibrahim Yekini, popularly known as Itele, has made history as his movie Koleoso became the first single-title Nollywood and African film to surpass 100 million views on YouTube.
Announcing the milestone on his official Instagram account, Yekini described the achievement as the result of hard work, creativity, and consistency.
He wrote, “HISTORY. RECORD. LEGACY. L KOLEOSO HITS 100MILLION + VIEWS In total. Officially the FIRST Nollywood title and the FIRST African movie title to hit this milestone On YouTube as ONE TITLE… This is a WIN FOR NOLLYWOOD. This is a WIN FOR AFRICA. A win for THE CULTURE. A win for THE YORUBAS. A win for NIGERIA.”
Koleoso, a fantasy-thriller series released in multiple parts under a single title, achieved the record through cumulative views across its ten episodes.
A check online revealed that part one of the movie has 8.9 million views, part two 9.2 million, part three over 8.3 million, parts four and five more than 10 million each, parts six through nine over 11 million each, while part ten has exceeded 10 million views.
The movie’s storyline centers on a powerful family wielding dark magic rooted in Yoruba traditions to control others, leading to intense conflicts involving characters such as Jaweshoro, Iroko, and Oracle.
