In a move to strengthen security operations, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has deployed CP Johnson Adenola as the new Commissioner of Police (CP) for Oyo State.
Adenola, who previously served as the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the IGP, played a key role in the smooth administration of the Force Headquarters.
His new posting to Oyo is expected to enhance law enforcement efforts in the state, particularly in tackling crime, maintaining public order, and ensuring the safety of residents.
In another strategic appointment, the IGP has approved DCP Ahmed Lateef as his new PSO. Lateef, a seasoned police officer, previously served as the Police Operations and Formed Police Unit (FPU) Coordinator for the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
He was also Personal Assistant to former IGP MD Abubakar and a Lead Cybercrime Investigator at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Additionally, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa has been posted to Enugu State, following the promotion of AIG Uzuegbu Kanayo.
CP Mamman has held key positions, including Assistant Commissioner (AC) and Deputy Commissioner (DC) in the Police Mobile Force (PMF) at Force Headquarters, as well as DC Operations in Kaduna State Command.
Announcing the appointments, the IGP charged the newly assigned officers to uphold the core values of the Force, including decency, transparency, and accountability.
“These deployments are part of our strategy to reposition the Nigeria Police Force for greater efficiency. I expect the officers to bring their experience to bear in ensuring safety and security in their respective commands,” Egbetokun stated.
