The Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa, Oba Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe, has called on indigenes of the community to unite and contribute to its development as preparations intensify for the 2026 Iloko Day celebration.
The monarch, Ajagbusi Ekun VI, in an invitation to residents and sons and daughters of the town, said the annual event would hold on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Town Hall, beginning at 10am.
He said the theme for this year’s celebration, “Imbibing Patriotism for Community Development,” reflects the need for collective responsibility in advancing the growth of the community.
Ogungbangbe urged indigenes at home and in the diaspora to attend and participate actively in activities lined up for the event.
The Iloko Development Association, organisers of the programme, said the celebration would serve as a platform to promote unity, cultural heritage and discuss developmental initiatives for the town.
The association’s Chairman, Kayode Adedire, Secretary, Taiwo Omojola, and Public Relations Officer, Olorunfemi Olatunji, appealed to stakeholders to support efforts aimed at moving the community forward.
Iloko Day is an annual gathering that brings together indigenes and friends of the community to celebrate its culture and chart a path for sustainable development.
