Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, has emphasized that the essence of Islamic knowledge is not about eloquence or large followings but about sincerity, depth, and alignment with the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah.

She made this known during the Annual Salako Family Tafsir held at the Ota Recreation Club Field, GRA Ota, where she underscored the responsibility of Islamic clerics in guiding their followers with wisdom. According to her, congregants continuously seek knowledge and must be led by those who are truly learned.

“It is not about how well one speaks or the number of followers one gathers; true knowledge of the deen is about sincerity and commitment to the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah,” she stated.

Salako-Oyedele also highlighted the importance of unity among Muslims, urging them to work together to strengthen the bonds within the Ummah, their communities, and the state at large. “We must remain focused on collective progress as a people, a community, a town, a local government, and as a state,” she added.

She further stressed the significance of political representation, urging Muslims to recognize the necessity of having their own people in key positions of influence.

“We must never underestimate the importance of being represented in government because only through such representation can our voices be heard and our interests protected,” she noted.

Addressing the youth, the Deputy Governor encouraged them to take advantage of various government programs designed for employment and empowerment. “There are numerous opportunities available, and it is crucial that our young people leverage them for their benefit,” she said.

Expressing her appreciation to those in attendance, particularly members of the Salako family, she reminded them of the true essence of Ramadan.

“Beyond fasting and prayer, Ramadan is a period of self-discipline, reflection, and increased devotion to Allah. May Allah grant us the ability to make the most of this sacred month and reward us abundantly,” she prayed.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Affairs, Hon. Jide Ojuko, commended the Deputy Governor for organizing the annual Ramadan lecture, noting that it has positively impacted many lives. He also urged politicians to uphold the fear of God in all their dealings, stating, “Only by doing so can they receive divine rewards.”

In his lecture titled “God Can’t Be Deceived,” the Grand Chief Imam of Ilaro and Yewa Land, Sheikh Al-Imam Mustapha Adewunmi, decried the alarming rate at which some Islamic clerics engage in deceitful acts and crimes. “Many who appear holy have lost their dignity and honor due to worldly desires,” he lamented, urging young Islamic clerics to stay true to the teachings of Allah and uphold moral integrity.

The Olota of Ota, HRH Oba (Prof.) Abdulkabir Obalanlege, emphasized the need for unity and mutual support among Muslims. “God created us to be beneficial to one another, and we must continue to be our brother’s keepers, not only during Ramadan but at all times,” he advised.

Representing the Ado-Odo/Ota Muslim community, Alfa Muiz Gbolahan Taiwo expressed gratitude to the Deputy Governor for her continued support of the Muslim community, offering prayers for her success.

The event featured Quranic recitations and special prayers for the Deputy Governor’s family, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, the state government, and the nation at large.
