Kano State Hisbah Board is set to destroy 4,920 bottles of beer intercepted by the Kano State Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA).

The seizure involved three truckloads of assorted beer worth millions of naira, impounded during night patrols along major streets in the Kano metropolis.

According to Abubakar Sharada, Public Relations Officer of KAROTA, the trucks contained 410 cartons of beer intended for distribution across the city.

The Managing Director of KAROTA, Faisal Mahmud Kabir, handed over the vehicles to the Commander-General of Hisbah, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa.

Mahmud Haido, KAROTA’s Director of Administration and General Services, said the agency remains committed to preventing the circulation of prohibited goods, assuring the public that all suspicious items will be reported to the appropriate security agencies.

Receiving the trucks, Sheikh Daurawa praised KAROTA personnel for their vigilance and confirmed that due process will be followed before the destruction of the beer.

He also noted that the Hisbah Board will continue collaborating with KAROTA to monitor and intercept prohibited goods.

Kano is among the northern Nigerian states that enforce Sharia regulations, which include restrictions on the sale and consumption of alcohol.

The Hisbah Board routinely destroys seized alcoholic beverages and works with state agencies to enforce these laws.

KAROTA, established in 2012, primarily manages traffic within Kano but occasionally participates in joint security operations to enforce state laws, including the interception of prohibited goods.
