The Kano State Police Command has recovered seven stolen vehicles and arrested several suspects in a renewed operation against auto theft and armed robbery across the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said in a statement on Monday that the vehicles were traced and recovered by the Command’s Special Intervention Squad acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
The recovered vehicles include an ash Toyota RAV4, a red Peugeot 406, a black Toyota Corolla, a Toyota Yaris with registration number Gombe 121 AH, a truck without body, a white Toyota Matrix and a white Forland truck with plate number GAK 701 XA.
Kiyawa said multiple suspects linked to the thefts and armed robbery incidents had been arrested. He noted that the suspects were already cooperating with investigators. “They are giving useful information and will be charged to court once investigations are concluded,” he said.
Commissioner Bakori praised the Special Intervention Squad for what he called their “professional conduct and steady commitment to crime control.”
He thanked residents for the support and cooperation extended to the police, saying such community involvement had continued to make operations easier.
“We are determined to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure the safety of lives and property,” he said.
The Command urged the public to stay alert and provide timely information that can help security agencies maintain peace and check criminal activities in the state.
