Lagos – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has uncovered a new tactic used by drug traffickers to smuggle dangerous substances, hiding them inside what appear to be ordinary flight boarding passes.
The revelation came in a statement on Sunday by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, who cautioned parents and guardians to be vigilant.
According to the NDLEA, traffickers are increasingly using innocuous items like boarding passes to transport harmful drugs, including a substance known as “Colos.”
“These may appear as ordinary flight boarding passes but neatly concealed in them are dangerous substances such as Colos.”
“This is one of the new methods of distributing illicit drugs in cities as uncovered by NDLEA operatives in Lagos,” Babafemi said.
He urged parents and guardians to closely monitor deliveries from dispatch riders, warning that traffickers are becoming more inventive with their packaging.
“The merchants of death are getting more disingenuous with their packaging but NDLEA is surely steps ahead of them,” he added.
The agency reiterated its commitment to tracking and apprehending drug traffickers and called on the public to report suspicious activities.
