Police operatives in Adamawa State have apprehended a suspect, Umar Snu, in connection with the brutal killing of a Point of Sale (PoS) operator, Abbas Yuguda, in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area.

The 35-year-old victim was reportedly attacked on Saturday, March 22, 2025, while returning home from his business premises. According to eyewitness accounts, armed assailants inflicted severe injuries on Yuguda’s head, leaving him in a pool of blood before fleeing the scene.

Police officers from the Mayo-Belwa Divisional Headquarters responded swiftly, rushing Yuguda to Cottage Hospital, where he was pronounced dead while receiving treatment.

Following the incident, an irate mob trailed Snu, captured him, and was on the verge of lynching him before police operatives intervened and took him into custody. “We had to act fast to prevent jungle justice,” a security source disclosed. The suspect was also taken to a hospital for medical attention and is reportedly cooperating with investigators.

Condemning the act of violence, the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Dankombo Morris, assured that a thorough investigation was underway. “We will ensure that those responsible for this heinous crime are brought to justice,” he stated.

Morris also warned against mob action, urging residents to allow law enforcement agencies to handle criminal matters. “Citizens must not take the law into their hands. Report any suspicious activity to the police, and justice will be served,” he added.

The Adamawa State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring public safety and called on residents to remain vigilant.
