Popular Nollywood actress and podcaster, Biola Bayo, has firmly dismissed claims suggesting that her marriage to Seyi ended as a result of domestic violence.

The actress, who recently revealed that she and her husband had been separated since April 2024, took to social media to clarify lingering public assumptions about the cause of their split.

While the news of her separation had earlier sparked emotional reactions and speculation online, Biola chose to address a particularly sensitive rumor that she had suffered abuse during her marriage.

In a heartfelt message, she stated:
“My ex-husband, Seyi, has never laid a finger on me, and I never did as well. We never ever had any physical abuse or violent issue from either of us.”

Biola initially broke the news of her marriage crash last week via an emotional Instagram post, where she expressed regret over the breakup and explained their decision to co-parent their son peacefully and maturely.

She apologised to fans who were disappointed by the development and admitted that she had hoped the union would work out.

“It’s best to stay alive to tell the story,” she wrote in the widely shared post, a phrase that triggered concern and led some to suggest that domestic violence might have played a role in the separation.

But in a follow-up edit to her original post, the actress corrected that narrative, insisting the decision to part ways had nothing to do with abuse. Instead, she emphasized that personal and emotional struggles behind the scenes weighed heavily on her.

“People saw me smiling and showing up strong, but they didn’t know I cried myself to sleep almost every night. My pillow knew the truth,” she confessed.

Biola also called on the public to show more empathy and restraint when reacting to personal issues shared by celebrities.

“Let us learn to be kind to people. You have no idea what others are going through until they say it,” she advised.

Her statement serves as a firm attempt to separate public curiosity from private reality, drawing a clear distinction between irreconcilable differences and violence.

While Biola continues her healing journey, she remains committed to co-parenting her son with Seyi and requested continued prayers from her supporters.

“We are doing our best to raise our son in peace and love. Please pray for us,” she added.
