Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has regained his freedom after spending about one week in police custody, following a court appearance in Ogun State.

The singer was released after his arraignment at a court in Ota, Ogun State, where he faced multiple charges including assault, theft, causing harm and resisting arrest.

He was also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 valued at N12 million.

In a video that surfaced online, Portable was seen surrounded by associates who welcomed him back after his release from custody. The singer appeared in good spirits as he addressed those present and announced that he had adopted a new name, “Innocenty.”

The release came after the court did not grant him bail during the initial sitting on January 12, reportedly due to the absence of the police officer handling the case. However, he was later released after spending a week in detention.

Adding to the development, Portable’s manager, Baby Luv, shared a photo of the singer with his first wife, Bewaji, on Instagram. In her post, she expressed gratitude and praised Bewaji for standing by the singer during his legal challenges.

She wrote, “All glory to God. Grace spoke, mercy prevailed. #Freedom. She stayed when it was hardest. God honoured her faith #Thankful.”
