The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a new upward review of passport application fees, with effect from September 1, 2025.
In a statement signed on Thursday by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, the NIS said the new charges will apply only to applications made within Nigeria.
According to the revised fees, the 32-page passport with five-year validity will now cost N100,000, while the 64-page passport with 10-year validity has been fixed at N200,000.
“The review which only affects Passport Application fees made in Nigeria, now sets a new fee threshold for 32-page with five-year validity at N100,000 and 64-page with 10-year validity at N200,000,” the statement read.
The Immigration Service clarified that fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page, five-year booklet and $230 for the 64-page, 10-year booklet.
The agency explained that the increment was aimed at maintaining the quality and integrity of the Nigerian passport, while also improving service delivery to citizens.
This fresh adjustment comes barely a year after the Federal Government approved an earlier increase in August 2024, which took effect on September 1, 2024.
At that time, the 32-page passport booklet was raised from N35,000 to N50,000, while the 64-page booklet rose from N70,000 to N100,000.
