The National Youth Service Corps has deployed a total of 2,050 prospective corps members to Bauchi State for the 2026 Batch A Stream One orientation exercise and the compulsory one year national service.
The Bauchi State Coordinator of the scheme, Kufre Umoren, disclosed this on Tuesday during an interaction with journalists in Bauchi, ahead of the opening of the orientation camp.
Umoren said registration for the incoming corps members would commence on Wednesday, January 21, and end on Friday, January 23, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp located at Wailo in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state.
According to him, the swearing in ceremony for the prospective corps members is scheduled for January 23, while the orientation exercise will run until February 10, 2026.
He explained that only corps members who have been properly screened and certified as genuine graduates would be admitted into the camp, adding that the scheme would carry out discreet screening to prevent impersonation and unauthorised entry.
Umoren said all deployed corps members had already been informed of the registration dates and were expected to strictly comply with camp rules and regulations.
He warned that any corps member who violates the rules would be sanctioned in line with the provisions of the scheme.
The NYSC coordinator also cautioned the corps members against late night journeys, stressing that the practice posed serious security risks and was strongly discouraged by the scheme.
He urged them to be punctual, disciplined, and diligent throughout the orientation period, while also complying fully with the prescribed dress code.
Umoren reiterated that the NYSC would not hesitate to sanction defaulters, noting that discipline and adherence to laid down rules remained central to the objectives of the national service programme.
