The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, has described the passing of the Alaperu of Iperu-Remo, Oba Adeleke Adelekan Idowu-Basibo, as a significant loss to the ranks of distinguished traditional rulers who uphold cultural heritage, goodwill, and nobility in service to society.

He noted that the late monarch exemplified these virtues throughout his reign.

Elemide made these remarks during a condolence visit to the Council of Chiefs at the Alaperu Palace in Iperu, where he was accompanied by fellow lawmakers and the Clerk/Head of Legislative Service, Adebakin Sakiru.

Expressing his shock over the monarch’s demise, the Speaker paid tribute to Oba Basibo’s character, describing him as a ruler known for his humility, mutual respect, and compassion for his people.

“The late Oba Basibo was a monarch who exhibited simplicity, mutual respect, kind-heartedness, and love for all. He has etched his name on the sands of time,” Elemide stated.

He further highlighted the late king’s contributions to the growth and development of Remoland, emphasizing how he fostered collaboration with the political class to advance the community.

While extending his condolences to the chiefs and residents of Remoland, Elemide urged them to ensure a smooth and lawful succession process that aligns with the state’s traditions and regulations.

In their separate remarks, the Lisa and Oluwo of Remoland, Chiefs Rotimi Odutona and Saheed Ifasola, appreciated the lawmakers for their visit, acknowledging their unwavering support for the current administration.

They reaffirmed the commitment of the Council of Chiefs to maintaining stability in traditional governance, preserving the rich cultural heritage of the land, and upholding the customs and values of Remoland.
