The Ogun State House of Assembly has approved a N300 billion funding request to support Governor Dapo Abiodun’s 2026 Annual Budget, the 2026–2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), long-term infrastructural projects, and funding of long-term pension obligations.

The approval followed the presentation of the report of the Committee of the Whole titled “H.R. No. 157/OG/2025 – Request for Bond Issuance, Public Offering, Book Building, Private Placement or other methods of the tune of Three Hundred Billion Naira (300,000,000,000:00) towards the partial funding of the 2026 Annual Budget and the 2026–2028 MTEF,” delivered by the Deputy Speaker, Bolanle Lateefat Ajayi, during the plenary presided over by Speaker Oludaisi Elemide at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Sanwo-Olu signs N4.4 trillion 2026 Lagos budget into law

According to the report, the Assembly considered and endorsed Governor Abiodun’s request to fund the 2026 annual budget, the 2026–2028 MTEF, long-term infrastructure projects, and pension obligations.

Following the presentation, the Deputy Speaker moved the motion for the adoption of the report, which was seconded by the Majority Leader, Hon. Yusuf Sherif. The Majority Leader further proposed that the report be adopted as a resolution of the House.

This motion was seconded by the Minority Leader, Lukman Adeleye, and supported unanimously by the entire House through a voice vote.

Speaker Elemide subsequently directed the Clerk and Head of Legislative Service, Mr. Sakiru Adebakin, to forward clean copies of the approval to Governor Abiodun and other relevant stakeholders for implementation.
