The Ogun State House of Assembly has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for approving the release of funds for constituency projects, describing it as a major boost to grassroots development across the state.

Speaking during a plenary session commemorating the second anniversary of the 10th Assembly, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, expressed appreciation to the people of the state for trusting their representatives with the mandate to deliver quality service and effective representation.

He noted that the Assembly remained committed to the principles of good governance and would ensure that all constituency projects were executed in line with due process.

“Let me make it clear that lawmakers will only facilitate these projects. The funds will be paid directly to contractors who won bids through transparent procedures, and all works will be supervised by relevant government agencies,” Elemide said.

He also thanked his colleagues and staff of the Assembly for their dedication over the past two years, adding that their collective efforts had helped strengthen legislative activities in the state.

The Speaker extended special gratitude to the management of Olabisi Onabanjo University, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, for donating a new mace to the House.

The new mace, which serves as a symbol of legislative authority, officially replaced the former one now preserved in the Assembly archives through a house resolution.

Elemide disclosed that a formal anniversary celebration had been postponed to a later date, which would coincide with the commissioning of selected constituency projects.

He revealed that many lawmakers had also completed personal development projects within their constituencies over the past two years.

In legislative development, the Assembly also recorded the first reading of a new bill titled H.B. No. 023/OG/2025. The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Commission (Establishment) Bill, 2025. The bill was read by the Clerk and Head of Legislative Service, Mr. Sakiru Adebakin.
