Ogun State House of Assembly, through its Committee on Finance and Appropriations, has commended the Ministry of Housing for delivering massive affordable housing projects across the State during the outgoing year, while urging it to surpass these achievements in the next fiscal year.
The Committee, led by Hon. Musefiu Lamidi, also lauded the Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Jagunmolu Jamiu Omoniyi, for his quality service delivery in the housing sector.
Members noted that his cooperation with the legislature has strengthened support for housing development in the State.
While defending the budget proposals for his Ministry and related agencies, including the State Housing Corporation and Housing Projects, Commissioner Omoniyi appreciated the lawmakers for their collaboration with the executive, which has advanced the socio-economic development of Ogun State.
He further disclosed that the Ministry and its sister agencies would embark on legacy projects in the next fiscal year. Key projects include the construction of a state-of-the-art International Conference Centre at Iperu, an Appeal Court complex in the State capital, and a 2,500-capacity Banquet Hall.
Plans are also underway to complete and convert the abandoned Block E Complex in the State Government Secretariat into a Revenue House for the State Internal Revenue Service.
Additionally, the Ministry intends to construct the Assembly and appointees’ quarters in Ibara Housing Estate, alongside a 563-unit housing project at Siun.
Other agencies that defended their budget proposals before the lawmakers were the Bureau of Lands and Survey, led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Lands, Mrs. Oyindamola Oyelese, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, led by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Kehinde Jokotoye.
