The passage followed the presentation of the report of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development by its Chairman and Chief Whip of the Assembly, Hon. (Mrs.) Omolola Bakare.

Bakare moved the motion for the adoption of the committee’s report, which was seconded by Hon. Folawewo Salami and supported by lawmakers through a voice vote.

The bill was subsequently considered clause by clause by the Committee of the Whole House. Thereafter, the Minority Leader, Hon. Lukman Adeleye, moved the motion for the third reading of the bill, which was seconded by Hon. Babatunde Tella and unanimously supported by the lawmakers.

Following the approval, the Clerk and Head of Legislative Service, Mr. Sakiru Adebakin, read the bill for the third time before the lawmakers.

The Speaker later directed that a clean copy of the bill be transmitted to the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for assent.

Meanwhile, the Assembly has also confirmed the appointment of Barrister Adeleke Godwin Solarin as a member of the Ogun State Judicial Service Commission.

The confirmation followed the presentation of the report of the Committee of the Whole House by the Chief Whip after the nominee had earlier been screened by the lawmakers.

Moving the motion for the adoption of the report and its conversion to a House resolution, the Minority Leader, Hon. Lukman Adeleye, said the nominee had met the necessary requirements for the position. The motion was seconded by the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Ademola Adeniran and supported by all members through a unanimous voice vote.

Earlier in her presentation, Bakare informed the Assembly that the committee found Solarin eligible and suitable to serve as a member of the Judicial Service Commission based on his qualifications and experience.

The Speaker subsequently directed that the resolution of the House be communicated to the state governor for the swearing in of the nominee.
