The Ogun State House of Assembly has called on Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and enhance operational efficiency to improve service delivery and revenue generation.
This charge was given by the House Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-Corruption, led by Hon. Bello Damilare, during the review of the 2023 audit report on the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The financial records of the ministry were presented by the Commissioner, Chief Sesan Fagbayi, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Qudus Adegboyega.
Hon. Bello emphasized the need for synergy among government agencies to maximize resources and boost revenue. “Inter-agency cooperation is key to achieving efficiency and financial prudence. We must ensure that all MDAs align their operations to optimize public resources for the benefit of Ogun residents,” he stated.
Alongside other lawmakers, including Honourables Musefiu Lamidi, Lukman Adeleye, Babatunde Tella, Adegoke Adeyanju, Yusuf Amosun, Waliu Owode, and Fatiu Folawewo, the committee also reviewed the audit report of the State Agro Services Corporation. During the session, the agency’s Director of Engineering Services, Engr. Toheeb Logunleko, presented its financial records for the period under review.
The Committee directed the agency to submit detailed documents on its storage facilities, land usage, and agricultural infrastructure by 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12.
Responding to the queries, Chief Fagbayi highlighted the ministry’s plan to leverage public-private partnerships for the revitalization of key tourist sites, including the Olumo Rock Tourist Centre and the Yemoji Natural Pool. Engr. Logunleko assured the lawmakers that all requested documents would be provided as required.
