Relief has returned to many communities in Ogun State as the government, under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, has completed several key road projects and intensified work on others across the three senatorial districts.

Among the completed projects is the reconstruction of the Prof. Wole Soyinka Train Station Road in Abeokuta. Other newly completed roads include the Express Link Road in Ogere (Ikenne Local Government), Akute-Ajuwore, Alagbole-Ajuwon, and Hercules-Giwa roads in Ifo Local Government.

Several other roads are also progressing steadily, including phase two of the Ode-Saapade Road, Tai Solarin Road (from Ayepe Junction to Mayflower), Hospital Road to Ayepe Junction in Sagamu, Akute-Lambe-Agbado Road in Ifo, and Magboro Road, among others.

For many years, these roads had been in deplorable condition, subjecting residents, commuters, and traders to hardship. But the intervention of the Abiodun administration has brought visible change and renewed hope.

At the construction site of the Ode-Saapade Road, Site Supervisor of Hi-Tech Construction, Ghassan Moussa, confirmed the project was progressing well despite weather-related delays.

“The road is about 60 percent completed. We’re extending it on both sides before laying the stone base and asphalt. The rain is our major challenge,” he explained.

Engineer Friday Oseghale of Sobak Nig. Ltd, working on the Tai Solarin Road, gave an update: “We’re doing resurfacing. We began from Ayepe Junction and are now close to St. Saviours Church. The road width is 12 meters.”

Residents and commuters have been effusive in their praise. Taxi driver Fatai Adeosun, who plies the Olokuta–Train Station–Laderin route in Abeokuta, described the road’s former state as “terrible.”

“We avoided the route completely in the past. But now, it’s become a favorite among commercial drivers. I thank Governor Abiodun for listening to the people,” he said.

A resident of Laderin Estate, Mrs. Theresa Olubunmi, was visibly pleased. “We cried for years, and now our cries have been heard. I’m grateful to the governor for this,” she said.

Commercial motorcycle rider Austin Ighalo noted the economic benefits. “The repair has cut down our maintenance costs and reduced travel time. We are thankful.”

At Ogere, a major market hub, traders are already feeling the impact. Mrs. Fausat Awosanya, who sells at the tollgate market, recalled the difficulties they faced.

“Before, drivers charged so much because of the bad road. Now that it’s been fixed, they bring us in at fairer prices. Business is better,” she said.

In Ode-Remo, where phase two of the Ode-Saapade Road is ongoing, residents are full of praise. Agboola Adebayo said, “We never believed this day would come. Many governors came and went, but Governor Abiodun did it. He is one in a million.”

Businessman Ejike Okemere said the development would enhance local commerce. “This road is vital for trade. Fixing it is already improving economic activities in our area. It’s a big boost for Ogun State,” he said.
