The Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Ogun State Chapter, has appointed Honourable (Chief) Olalekan Alex Shoyinka, popularly known as Ayinla Egba, as the new Chairman of the Association.

The decision followed resolutions reached at the State Congress held over the weekend.

The appointment was announced in a press release signed by Comrade Moses Okunlola, acting Secretary of Ogun FIBAN, and was subsequently ratified by the National Congress of FIBAN held in Ibadan on Sunday, January 18, 2026, giving constitutional backing to the new leadership arrangement in Ogun State.

The appointment and ratification took place in the presence of key stakeholders at the Ibadan National Congress, which was attended by members of the outgoing National Working Committee led by Comrade Taiwo Adebayo-Gold, and respected national leaders of the Association.

Notable among them were Mogaji Kola Olootu, Prophet Niyi Akinboade (Ologbojo), Comrade Ben Uwabor, Alhaji Gbenga Adebayo-Oladunni (Imalian Boy), Comrade Desmond Nwachukwu, and Comrade Seun Awodele.

Ayinla Egba will lead the Association through a seven-man Caretaker Committee constituted to stabilise, reform, and reposition Ogun FIBAN in line with national best practices.

Members of the Committee include Comrade Olusoji Idowu Soewu (Isele Nla), Comrade Bolanle Oluwatoyin Asakpa, Comrade Olusoji Akindiya (Okanlomo), Comrade Remilekun Elegbede, and Comrade Moses Okunlola as Secretary.

The selection of Ayinla Egba was unanimous, reflecting his experience and proven leadership credentials within the Association.

He has previously served as Publicity Secretary and General Secretary of Ogun FIBAN, roles in which he demonstrated administrative competence, inclusiveness, and commitment to the ideals of the Association.

The Caretaker Committee has been tasked with implementing comprehensive reforms, rebranding, and institutional repositioning of Ogun FIBAN, with a focus on professionalism, unity, credibility, and effective member engagement.

In his acceptance speech, Ayinla Egba expressed gratitude to the national leadership, elders, and members for their confidence in the Committee. He stated that the task ahead requires collective responsibility, noting that:

“This assignment cannot be accomplished by the Caretaker Committee alone. It requires the support, cooperation, and active participation of all members. As our elders say, a heavy burden cannot be carried alone.”

He assured members that the mandate entrusted to the Committee would be handled with seriousness, integrity, transparency, and commitment, adding that the Committee is determined to restore pride, professionalism, and public confidence in Ogun FIBAN within the stipulated period.

The leadership has therefore called on all members to rally round the new Caretaker Committee and support its efforts towards building a stronger, more united, and more credible Association in Ogun State.
