The Ogun State Government has appointed Prince Adebayo Apelogun, the National Chairman of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), as the Amirul Hajj for the 2025 pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The appointment of Apelogun, alongside thirteen other individuals, was announced by the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board on Friday in a statement released through the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade.

The Board also revealed that Sheikh Ishaq Olorungbebe will serve as the Chairman of the ad-hoc welfare committee, which is tasked with facilitating a smooth and spiritually fulfilling Hajj experience for the state’s intending pilgrims.

Other members of the committee include prominent Islamic scholars and respected community leaders such as Sheik Lawal Iskeel (Sugar), Sheikh Shile Rufai, Imam Sabeeq Aladi Ibrahim, Sheik Wasiu Raheem Balogun, Imam Abdul-Lateef Ismail Afolabi, TPL Ogunfowora Kamoru Olayiwola, Alhaji (Imam) Hassan Tijani, Alhaji Hussein Oredipe Mustapha, and Alhaji (Imam) Uthman Akewukanwo.

Also appointed are three distinguished women: Alhaja Alarise Korede Fausat, Alhaja Egunjobi Kafilat Aderonke, and Alhaja Jinadu Zainab Iyabode.

The Board urged the appointees to carry out their assignments with dedication and a deep sense of responsibility.

“We charge all members of the committee to discharge their obligations diligently and with the highest level of commitment.” the statement read.

“Their role is critical in ensuring the comfort, welfare, and safety of our pilgrims throughout the Hajj exercise,” the statement read.

Speaking on behalf of the state government, Hon. Akinmade emphasized the administration’s resolve to uphold the welfare of all pilgrims from Ogun State.

“Our goal is to make this year’s Hajj not only spiritually rewarding but also seamless in logistics and coordination. We trust that the committee members will live up to expectations,” he said.
