The Super Falcons, who are the reigning African champions, already have an edge going into the second leg after securing a 2-0 victory over the Benin Republic women’s team in Lomé, Togo, on Friday, 24th October.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ogun State Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, called on football enthusiasts across the state to troop out in large numbers to cheer the team to victory.

According to him, the state is delighted to host the Falcons again, as Abeokuta has always shown great passion for women’s football and national sporting events.

“The Ogun State Government is fully behind the Super Falcons. We are proud to welcome them back to Abeokuta, and we urge all our football-loving fans to fill the MKO Abiola Stadium and support our girls as they aim to secure qualification for the WAFCON tournament,” the Commissioner said.

Isiaka also assured that adequate arrangements had been made to ensure a smooth and exciting experience for fans attending the match, adding that the government remains committed to promoting sports development and national unity through football.
