The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a resident of the state, Oluwadamilare Ewedemi, for the alleged prolonged sexual abuse of his biological daughter, which reportedly resulted in five pregnancies.

The 21-year-old victim, whose identity is being protected, reportedly endured years of trauma before escaping her father’s house to seek refuge in a church.

According to the police, the suspect’s ordeal with his daughter began in 2019.

The victim alleged that her father took her from a motherless home in Ikeja, Lagos State where she had been placed following the death of her mother during her infancy under the guise of providing guardianship in Ijebu Ode.

Instead of care, the victim claimed she was subjected to a cycle of sexual violence.

During the period of abuse, she reportedly became pregnant five times, with the suspect allegedly procuring abortions for every single instance.

The victim finally found the courage to flee on February 1, 2026, citing “excessive harassment.” She relocated to a church in the Pakoto Mountain area, from where she eventually sought help.

Confirming the arrest on Monday, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, described the allegations as “disturbing.”

“On March 26, 2026, the victim reported at the Ifo Division that she had been subjected to sexual abuse by her biological father, Oluwadamilare Ewedemi. She disclosed that her father began sexually abusing her in 2019 and continued the abuse over several years,” Babaseyi stated.

The spokesperson further noted that the arrest was made possible through a tip-off and the “swift and decisive leadership” of the Divisional Police Officer in Ifo, CSP Kamorudeen.

The suspect is currently in police custody. While preliminary investigations are ongoing, the case has been officially transferred to the Command’s Gender Desk for thorough investigation and subsequent prosecution.

The police have assured the public that justice will be served, reiterating their commitment to tackling cases of gender-based violence and domestic abuse across the state.
