Abeokuta: As Ogun State approaches its 50th anniversary, Tripod Media Company has unveiled a 50-day countdown to the Golden Jubilee celebration, highlighting the achievements of the state over the past five decades.
The initiative, tagged the ‘50-Day Challenge’, will feature daily engagements, awards, talent showcases, and educational competitions, aimed at celebrating the people, culture, and heritage of Ogun State.
According to a press release signed by Dare Adedotun, MD/CEO of Tripod Media Company, the 50-Day Challenge will run from December 16, 2025, to February 3, 2026, at EmFelix Event and Conference Centre, Idi Aba, Abeokuta.
“The 50-Day Challenge is designed to showcase the remarkable contributions of Ogun people in all spheres of life – education, business, culture, arts, sports, and governance. It is a celebration of excellence and a call for sustained development,” he said.
The programme is anchored on five pillars, collectively called Mission 5: 50 minutes of daily engagement highlighting Ogun people and culture, a Golden Jubilee Essay Competition across schools and tertiary institutions, a 50-minute documentary, recognition of Ogun’s Top 50 brands and Golden Jubilee Awards, and the Ogun Got Talents show, which will showcase the creativity of young adults from the state.
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, Adedotun noted, “Ogun State has always been a cradle of excellence. From producing the first newspaper in Nigeria to hosting distinguished leaders, our people are our greatest assets. This countdown is a tribute to our past and an inspiration for the future.”
The press release also described Ogun State as a “safe haven and pride of Nigeria”, noting that its citizens have achieved remarkable feats across education, civil service, politics, commerce, agriculture, arts, culture, and sports.
“As we celebrate this milestone, it is crucial for leaders – public, civil, and traditional – to put in place measures that will take the state to even greater heights,” Adedotun added.
The 50-Day Challenge will be broadcast on conventional and dedicated social media platforms daily at 5pm, allowing citizens to engage and participate in the countdown to the Golden Jubilee celebration.
Tripod Media Company called on the public and media houses to give the initiative wide publicity to ensure maximum participation.
