Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reassured residents along the Ologuneru axis of the 110km Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road project that their concerns over setbacks and compensation will be fully addressed.

Speaking during a meeting with property owners on Wednesday, the governor emphasized that no house would be demolished without rightful compensation.

He added that adjustments would be made in already developed areas and that the 150-metre setback for the road would not be exceeded.

“You installed this government. If we have not solved issues, we will have another go at it. But if we say we have solved them, they will disappear,” Makinde said.

He explained that the Circular Road is a rapid transfer network requiring compliance with highway codes, stressing that in built-up areas, the setback would remain within 150 metres.

Ten representatives from the affected communities will form a committee to work directly with the New Towns and Cities Development Authority, which is overseeing the project.

Makinde said the Ministry would no longer be involved, streamlining communication and ensuring issues are resolved promptly.

Residents commended the governor’s hands-on approach, describing him as a listening and compassionate leader. Chief Niyi Akintola, Asiwaju of Ido, said the engagement demonstrated the right approach to addressing land concerns.

Governor Makinde assured that his administration would resolve all issues related to the Circular Road before his term ends in 2027, ensuring a fair outcome for the people of Oyo State.
