The Oyo State Government has approved ₦235 billion for the construction of the second phase of the Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja Circular Road in Ibadan, signaling a major push to ease traffic congestion and expand critical infrastructure in the state capital.
The approval came during the 16th State Executive Council meeting held on Tuesday at the Governor’s Media Briefing Room, Secretariat, Ibadan.
Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Hon. Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, told journalists that the new phase covers a 39-kilometre stretch and is scheduled for completion within 18 months.
He described the project as strategic for improving traffic flow, enhancing connectivity, and opening new economic corridors around Ibadan.
“The second phase of the Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja Circular Road has been approved at a cost of ₦235 billion. This administration is committed to completing this phase within the next 18 months,” Mogbonjubola said.
The council also approved ₦55 billion for the rehabilitation of inner roads in Ogbomosho to boost urban mobility and improve residents’ quality of life.
In energy-related projects, Commissioner for Energy, Professor Dahud Shangodoyin, disclosed approvals for solar-powered street lights along the Orita-Aperin to Olorunsogo corridor at a cost of ₦348 million, and alternative energy systems at Onipepeye and Odogbo Barracks for ₦231 million.
On healthcare, the Executive Council approved ₦389 million for procurement of beddings across all 58 secondary healthcare facilities in the state, aiming to enhance patient comfort and healthcare delivery.
The government said these interventions reflect its commitment to modernizing infrastructure, improving safety, and enhancing quality of life for residents.
