The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has honoured the Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation with an Award of Appreciation for its consistent efforts in tackling drug abuse and promoting a drug-free society.
The award was presented during the 2025 International Peace Day celebration held at the State Headquarters of the Corps, on Monday in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Speaking at the event, the State Commandant of NSCDC, Commandant Remi Omolade Ekundayo, applauded the foundation for its unwavering dedication to the fight against drug abuse, particularly among young people.
He said the recognition was well deserved, noting that the foundation’s initiatives had greatly supported the Corps’ peace-building mission.
According to him, “The Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation has stood out in the fight against drug abuse and the promotion of peace in our communities. Their intervention programmes have saved lives, redirected many young people from drug use, and enhanced the stability of our society. Today, we honour them because their work aligns with our goal of creating a safe and peaceful environment for all.”
Receiving the award on behalf of the foundation, its Global President, Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, expressed appreciation to the Ogun State Command of NSCDC for the honour.
He pledged that the foundation would continue to strengthen its partnership with security agencies and stakeholders in advancing a drug-free and peaceful society.
In his words, “This award is a call to do more. We are deeply grateful to NSCDC for this recognition, and we assure the Corps and the public that our fight against drug abuse will not stop.”
“We will continue to collaborate with security agencies, schools, communities, and families to build a healthier and more peaceful Ogun State.”
The award presentation was one of the high points of the International Peace Day event, which featured security officials, dignitaries, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders.
The gathering focused on the global theme, “Act Now for a Peaceful World,” with discussions centred on fostering unity and addressing social challenges that threaten peace and stability.
