The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Victor Cletus, a 28-year-old man, for impersonating a medical doctor and defrauding a female victim. Cletus, who is actually a cleaner at Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilisan Remo, allegedly presented himself as a surgeon to his victim via Snapchat.
According to the state police spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, the victim confided in Cletus about a medical concern involving a lump in her breast.
“Believing his fabricated credentials, she sought his advice on a supposed surgical procedure,” Odutola said. Instead of medical assistance, Cletus allegedly sexually abused the victim and stole money from her Opay account.
The victim reportedly grew suspicious when the impostor continued demanding sexual favors without performing any medical procedure. She later confirmed with the hospital that Cletus was not a doctor.
The state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, condemned the act, warning online predators that the command will not tolerate any form of exploitation or sexual violence against females.
He urged young women to exercise caution on social media and remain vigilant against strangers posing with false identities.
Cletus is currently under investigation and will be prosecuted for his alleged crimes.
