The Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt and opened a full scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of a retired broadcaster and Ogun State Television personality, Ms. Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard in Abeokuta.
According to a press release issued by the Command and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the incident occurred on Sunday at a residence in Iyana Agodo Village, Owode Egba area, after a resident reported suspicious activity and raised alarm at the Owode Egba Police Division.
Police detectives who arrived at the scene observed signs of forced entry and disturbance within the premises.
During a search of the property, the body of the security guard was discovered inside the security post, while Ms. Oyesiku was later found dead inside her apartment. Her vehicle was also reported missing from the compound.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
He directed detectives to intensify efforts to track and arrest those responsible, noting that intelligence driven operations have been expanded to cover surrounding areas.
The police command described the incident as a serious criminal case and assured that all necessary resources are being deployed to unravel the circumstances behind the deaths and recover the missing vehicle.
In the statement, the Command commiserated with the family of the deceased, the Ogun State Television family, and members of the media community, urging residents to remain calm and provide useful information that could assist ongoing investigations.
