The Ogun State Police Command has issued a strong warning to cultists and their sympathisers over intelligence reports indicating planned cult-related celebrations, popularly called “777,” across the state.
Spokesperson of the Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, in a statement on Sunday, said security across all Divisions and Area Commands has been strengthened to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
She stated that any attempt to stage unlawful gatherings, processions or cult-linked anniversary events will be met with immediate police action.
“Parents and guardians are advised to caution their wards, especially young persons, against loitering or clustering in public spaces. Security operatives will not hesitate to disperse any suspicious gathering or activity capable of disturbing public peace,” she warned.
The police further cautioned that anyone found in possession of firearms during the period will be arrested and prosecuted.
The Command assured residents that adequate measures have been put in place to guarantee safety while urging members of the public to report suspicious activities promptly.
