Motorists and residents of Akute, Lambe, Agbado, and adjoining communities in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State have begun to heave a sigh of relief as the long-awaited reconstruction of the Akute-Lambe-Agbado Road officially kicks off.

The Ogun State Government, under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, has mobilized the construction giant, Craneburg, to the site to begin full reconstruction of the strategic and heavily trafficked road.

This development is part of the state’s commitment to boosting infrastructure and improving residents’ quality of life through accessible and motorable roads.

Heavy-duty equipment including SEM 920F motor graders, bulldozers, excavators, and dump trucks have already been deployed to the project site, with visible signs of road grading, leveling, and base preparation underway.

“The excavators are already digging and trucks are pouring in laterite soil to create a solid roadbed. This is no longer just a promise, it’s action,” a resident and eyewitness at the site remarked.

According to sources from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, the project will cover several key stretches including the Akute Bridge, Oke Aro Stream, and Agbado Bridge. When completed, the road will significantly ease travel between densely populated areas of Ifo LGA and enhance economic activity across the corridor.

Speaking on the development, a government official who spoke anonymously stated, “The Dapo Abiodun administration is not paying lip service to infrastructure. This road project is strategic to linking communities, reducing travel time, and opening up economic corridors. The transformation is beginning, and residents will soon drive on smooth, durable roads.”

Construction of drainage channels and lay-bys is expected to begin in the coming days, with continued earthworks progressing at multiple sections simultaneously.

The Akute-Lambe-Agbado road project is one of several infrastructure initiatives launched in Ifo Local Government Area by the current administration. Others include the Akute-Ajuwon road in Ifo II State Constituency, Alagbole-Akute road, Akute-Ijoko-Oke Aro road, Sango-Ijoko-Akute road, and Denro-Ishashi-Oluwakemi road.

Residents of the area have long called for urgent intervention on the route, which has suffered years of neglect. Many expressed gratitude and hope that the reconstruction would be completed within schedule.

“This road has been a nightmare for years. We thank the government for finally responding. We just hope it won’t be abandoned halfway,” said Mrs. Dupe Ajayi, a local trader in Lambe.

The state government reiterated that the reconstruction is part of a broader agenda to stimulate economic development, reduce travel delays, and create a better living environment for its citizens.
