Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has signed the N4.4 trillion 2026 appropriation bill into law, formally approving the state’s spending plan for the new fiscal year.
The budget, tagged Budget of Shared Prosperity, was signed on Monday at the Conference Room of Lagos House, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja.
The Lagos State House of Assembly, led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, had earlier passed the appropriation bill in January, approving a total expenditure of N4,444,509,776,438 for the 2026 financial year.
Sanwo-Olu, while presenting the budget proposal to lawmakers in November 2025, said the fiscal plan was crafted to promote prosperity and guarantee inclusive development across the state. He explained that the budget reflects the administration’s commitment to improving the living standards of residents through people-focused governance.
According to the governor, the 2026 budget is anchored on four key pillars, human-centred development, modern infrastructure, a thriving economy, and effective governance. He noted that the pillars align with the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ development agenda and are designed to translate government policies into measurable benefits for Lagosians.
“The goal is to move beyond policy statements and deliver real improvements in the daily lives of our people,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He added that the budget would support critical sectors of the economy, enhance public service delivery, and strengthen the state’s capacity to respond to social and economic challenges.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, members of the State Executive Council, the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, lawmakers of the Lagos State House of Assembly, and other senior government officials.
