Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Abuja after representing President Bola Tinubu at two major international engagements.
Shettima arrived from Luanda, Angola, on Tuesday following his participation in the 7th African Union–European Union (AU–EU) Summit.
According to a statement shared on his official X account, the Vice President had earlier departed South Africa for Angola on Sunday after attending the 2025 Group of 20 (G20) Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg, where he also stood in for the President.
During the AU–EU Summit, Shettima delivered Tinubu’s message, emphasizing Nigeria’s call for Africa to secure permanent seats with veto powers at the United Nations Security Council, and stressing the urgent need for comprehensive reform of global governance.
The President, through Shettima, also urged stronger collaboration between Africa and Europe, calling on the European Union to co-create peace and security initiatives anchored on African-led frameworks as a pathway to sustainable continental stability.
