The Ogun State Police Command has uncovered a chilling scene in Abeokuta, where human body parts were found concealed in two buildings masquerading as Cherubim and Seraphim Church parishes.

The discovery, made on April 22, 2025, has led to the arrest of three suspects — Sunday Akintobi (36), Oladimeji Olaniran (40), and Isaiah Tijani (38).

The buildings, located in Kobape town and along Abiola Way, were allegedly used as fronts to disguise their gruesome operations and evade detection.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team apprehended the suspects following a tip-off.

“They were found in possession of suspected human remains, including bones and other dismembered body parts. The arrest was a result of diligent intelligence and swift response,” she said.

She added that forensic investigations and further interrogations are underway. “Based on their confessions, we have launched a comprehensive probe to trace the origin of the remains and determine the full scope of their criminal network,” she stated.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, described the case as “deeply disturbing and inhuman,” vowing that the command will pursue justice to the letter.

“This discovery is not only shocking but a wake-up call for community vigilance. We will leave no stone unturned. This investigation will be thorough and far-reaching,” he assured.

CP Ogunlowo also issued a strong warning to residents: “Do not shield criminals. Report any suspicious activity. The community must be actively involved in ensuring our safety.”

He also expressed concern over the alarming rise in graveyard thefts and ritual killings. “We urge families to take proactive steps in securing gravesites to curb grave robbing. This is an unfortunate trend that must be stopped,” the police boss added.

The police further urged members of the public to assist with information that could help bring more perpetrators to justice.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activities around these so-called church buildings or elsewhere to come forward. Your information could be vital,” Odutola said.
