The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, codenamed So-Safe Corps, has arrested three suspects in connection with separate cases of alleged burglary and stealing at Asore and Ajambata, Sokoto Road, both in Atan-Ota, Ogun State.
The arrests were disclosed in separate statements issued by the State Commander, So-Safe Corps, Cmdr. (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, and made available by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi.
The operatives of the Corps arrested 21-year-old Ayomide Adebayo after he was allegedly caught inside a residence at Asore, Atan-Ota, following his unlawful entry into the premises.
Adebayo was apprehended on Sunday, October 4, 2026, after the Atan Area Command received a distress call at about 1:30 p.m. that a man had allegedly jumped over a fence and gained access to a residential building.
According to the statement, the Area Commander, ACC Adekunle Job, immediately mobilised operatives to the scene, where the suspect was apprehended and taken to the Area Command for questioning.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to entering the premises through the rear fence. He reportedly admitted removing the burglary protection from a window to gain access to the main building.
He further disclosed that he allegedly took household items, including rice, bread and cooking pots, as well as an undisclosed amount of money.
The incident reportedly occurred while the owner of the house was away at church. On returning home, the owner reportedly noticed that the gate was locked from inside, despite having locked it from outside before leaving.
His suspicion reportedly led him to find another means of accessing the premises, where he discovered the suspect inside the house. An alarm was raised, attracting people who apprehended the suspect before handing him over to the So-Safe Corps.
Similarly, the Corps arrested two suspects identified as Monday and Vovo over the alleged theft of pumping machines at Ajambata, Sokoto Road, Atan-Ota.
The suspects were arrested on Monday, October 5, 2026, following information from members of the community that some men had allegedly been caught with pumping machines suspected to have been stolen from a burgled location.
So-Safe Corps operatives on patrol reportedly moved to the area and apprehended the suspects before taking them to the Atan Area Command.
During preliminary interrogation, Monday and Vovo, both said to be natives of Cotonou, Benin Republic, gave accounts of their activities in the area.
Monday reportedly said he had lived in Atan for several years, while Vovo stated that he arrived in the area a few months ago.
Monday allegedly admitted that although he did not accompany Vovo to remove the pumping machines, he usually helped to find buyers for stolen items. Vovo reportedly confirmed the claim.
Two pumping machines were recovered from the suspects, while three individuals later came forward to identify and claim the recovered items.
The three suspects from the separate incidents were subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Atan Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
One of the complainants, Mr. Kamal Oshi, expressed appreciation to the So-Safe Corps for its prompt intervention and recovery of the stolen property.
The So-Safe Corps Commander reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and provide useful information on suspicious movements and activities in their communities.
He also advised members of the public against taking the law into their own hands.
