The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, So-Safe Corps, has arrested a 22 year old suspected cannabis dealer, Azeez Amuzat Ogo Oluwa, in Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest was disclosed in a press release issued by the State Commander of the Corps, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, and made available to journalists by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander of Corps Adegunwa Adegbuyi.
According to the statement, the suspect was apprehended on January 28, 2026, during a routine surveillance patrol carried out by operatives of the Anti Arms Smuggling Directorate in line with the directive of the State Commander.
The Director of Anti Arms Smuggling, Assistant Commander of Corps Abdulkareem Abdulrazak, was said to have mobilised his team for patrol, with officers deployed along the Koko Akojaga Road under Ilashe town in Ipokia.
The patrol team, led by Superintendent of Corps Akinola Olanrewaju and Superintendent of Corps Balogun Rotimi, reportedly sighted the suspect riding on a motorcycle at about 12.27pm.
“The suspicious and unsettled behaviour of the suspect attracted the attention of the operatives,” Ganzallo said.
He explained that the officers immediately stopped the motorcycle and conducted a search, during which a bag carried by the suspect was found to contain 85 wraps of cannabis.
Ganzallo added that preliminary findings revealed that the suspect, who identified himself as a carpenter, was allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.
He said the suspect and the recovered exhibits had been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Idiroko Special Area Command, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The So-Safe Corps commander used the opportunity to warn residents against engaging in criminal activities, particularly drug related offences.
“Hard drugs are injurious to the body and also constitute a crime against the nation. Our operatives are on constant alert, and anyone found engaging in such acts will be arrested and handed over to the appropriate authorities,” he said.
