Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, have successfully rescued ten victims, including three females, who were allegedly trafficked from Ghana under the guise of employment opportunities and unlawfully detained in a residential apartment in Mowe, Ogun State.

The victims were discovered in a three-bedroom flat located in the Oke-Sioni area, directly opposite Comfort Zone Hotel in Mowe, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area. Upon arrival in Nigeria, they were reportedly held against their will, denied freedom of movement and access to communication.

According to a statement issued by the Corps’ Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, on behalf of the State Commander, Commander (Dr) Soji Ganzallo, the operation followed an intelligence report received on April 19, 2025.

“The Corps acted swiftly upon receiving credible information about the confinement of Anita Otaibu and others. They were misled with fake job offers, only to find themselves imprisoned,” the statement read.

Commander Ganzallo explained that the Owode-Egba Zonal Command, led by Assistant Commander of Corps (ACC) Rasaki Jimoh, was immediately tasked with the operation. “We could not fold our arms while such inhuman treatment was going on. We set plans in motion to secure the victims’ freedom and bring the perpetrators to justice,” he said.

By April 20, 2025, at around 10:00 a.m., a joint task force comprising operatives of the So-Safe Corps and officers from the Nigeria Police Force, Redeemed Division, stormed the building and successfully rescued the victims.

Ten individuals were recovered during the raid, including Frank Adjei (45), Emmanuel Agyapong (50), Adam Zakari (33), Benjamin Etuah (20), Asamoah Kwaku (53), Yusuf Kasim (27), Ogunle Damola (32), Gift Dzakpasu (21), Susana Ampons (35), and Anita Otaibu. One of the detained individuals, identified as Ogunle Damola, was reportedly serving as the security guard for the building and is a Nigerian.

“We ensured all rescued persons were taken into protective custody and handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Redeemed Divisional Headquarters, for proper investigation and possible prosecution,” Commander Ganzallo added.

The So-Safe Corps reiterated its commitment to safeguarding all residents and visitors in Ogun State, warning those involved in human trafficking and similar criminal enterprises to desist or face the full wrath of the law.
